The Maroon Bells in Aspen Colorado on September 26th. Appearing is the image is an unknown fellow photographer who told me he lives in Wisconsin and was taking time out of hunting trip to capture some of Colorado’s beautiful scenery to take home with him. Standing behind us where approximately 150 others with a camera in hand as well.
The Maroon Bells are actually located just outside Aspen, Co in the Maroon Bells -Snowmass Wilderness and considered to be one of the most, if not the most photographed peaks in Colorado.
The fascinating part about the lake is you can clearly see 3 different species of trout swimming around, Rainbow, Brook and Brown’s which really brought more excitement to the whole outdoor experience. The Maroon Bells are two peaks in the Elk Mountains, Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak near Aspen, Colorado. If I had to describe in three words Colorado’s high country this past fall, I would have to say “It’s on Fire”.
The Maroon Bells bus can be accessed at Aspen Highlands which is just 2 miles up Maroon Creek Road on the left hand side. There is free parking available at Aspen Highlands. Purchase bus tickets for $6, $3 on Wednesdays, inside of Four Mountain Sports. Busses depart every half hour. In the Winter Maroon Creek Road is closed to vehicular traffic the only way to get there is to cross country-ski, or on a snowmobile tour run by T-Lazy 7 Ranch.
On my way to Denver I traveled east along I-70, and on this trip I would have to say I have never seen Vail Valley so beautiful. In one word “ Intense” . Frequently I travel to Aspen to photograph real estate, the trip always undoubtedly ends up taking me all day because I never get far and have to stop and capture landscape like seen here.
